Early Pinball:
from Bagatelle to Baffle Ball & Beyond
Here's an article I came across that was in GameRoom Magazine, from the March, 2007 issue. It's an article written by Jimmy Rosen, of Old Sled Works fame, covering in great detail, the early days of pinball. If you own an Army Navy pin, mentioned in this article, and seek hard to find parts for this game or other Rock-ola titles, check out Hal O'Rourke's website. If you want to learn more about the early days of pinball, I highly recommend Wayne Namerow's Penny Arcade website, featuring many other articles and a list of various books that have been published on this subject. Another excellent resource is Prewarpinball.com, featuring photos of some rare prewar pinball machines and a link to the Yahoo prewar pinball newsgroup: a great place to meet other prewar pin collectors. Also, take my tour of Old Sled Works, featuring the Penny Arcade, and you'll see it's definitely something to check out sometime if you find yourself in the PA area. |
